The Libertarian Party exists because people care enough about liberty to make it happen. State leadership positions are described below along with current officeholders. You can:

State Chair (gro.sionillIPL@riahC) — Valiant Vetter

As Chief Executive Officer for the party, the State Chair presides over official Party meetings, is an ex officio member of all committees, and is responsible for coordinating the activities of the party officers. The State Chair also supervises the activities of paid contractors and/or employees of the party. Aside from communications handled by the Secretary and Public Relations Chair, the State Chair is the official spokesperson for party.

Activism Chair (gro.sionillIPL@msivitcA) — Kathy Kelley

The Activism Chair assists chapters to plan and execute special outreach events, arranges state-wide outreach and education events, and coordinates activities with other state Parties or organizations to successfully execute regional and multi-state events. The Activism Chair maintains a list of suitable events and volunteers available to staff these events.

Campaigns Chair (gro.sionillIPL@sngiapmaC) — David Kelley

The Campaigns Chair seeks and cultivates Libertarian candidates for statewide and local offices, recruits and coordinates volunteers to assist with campaign activities, and acts as an information resource for party members interested in running for office. Managing state-wide petition drives and challenges are also duties of the Campaigns Chair.

Fundraising Chair (gro.sionillIPL@gnisiardnuF) — Open

The Fundraising Chair manages the Party's fundraising efforts. Developing and implementing fundraising campaigns and thanking donors are the primary duties. Contracting with mailing companies and/or telephone fundraisers also fall under the Fundraising Chair's authority.

If you have an interest in raising money to promote liberty in Illinois, please contact us. Both volunteers and those who would like to like to make a profit through this position are welcome.

Legislative Chair (gro.sionillIPL@evitalsigeL) — Chris Bennett

The Legislative Chair monitors significant bills, laws, and lawmakers, reporting opportunities to favorably influence legislation through party communication and activism.

Membership Chair (gro.sionillIPL@pihsrebmeM) — Damon Dillon

The Membership Chair maintains the official Membership Database, receiving and keeping current member's names and contact information. The Membership Chair also assists members desiring to start new chapters and manages the formation of new chapters.

Newsletter Editor (gro.sionillIPL@rettelsweN) — Open

The Newsletter Editor manages the Party's printed and electronic publications. Duties include setting deadlines, soliciting and writing articles, editing content, and coordinating printing and distribution. The Newsletter Editor also works with the Membership Chair to keep our mailing list current.

Public Relations Chair (gro.sionillIPL@RP) — Kent McMillen

The PR Chair is responsible for writing and publishing news releases, cultivating media contacts, and arranging interviews and other publicity for LP-Illinois activities. The PR Chair also maintains the media contact list.

Secretary (gro.sionillIPL@yraterceS)Evonne Bennett

The Secretary records and keeps all minutes from official party meetings and maintains official documents such as bylaws and important non-financial records. The Secretary also handles all official party correspondence and officially "credentials" members at the annual business meeting.

Treasurer (gro.sionillIPL@rerusaerT)Debra Aaron

The Treasurer collects and deposits all monies received by the Party, disburses all monies owed and payable by the Party, reports financial status, files Federal Election Commission and/or State Board of Elections reports, and maintains financial records in accordance with Generally-Accepted Accounting Principles.

Webmaster (gro.sionillIPL@beW) — Crystal Jurczynski

The Webmaster administers and maintains the Party website and email systems. The Webmaster is also the Party's technology officer, assisting other officers with technology to gather and distribute membership, campaign, and volunteer information.

Campus Coordinator — Open

Works with students, our Membership Chair, and the National LP Campus Coordinator to form and maintain campus groups in Illinois colleges and high schools. If you have an interest in developing the next generation of libertarians, please contact us.

Convention Committee Chair — Open

Manages the Convention Committee that plans and executes our annual convention. Good organizational and management skills are critical as is the ability to organize volunteers and negotiate with hotels, vendors, speakers, and members. If you would like to orchestrate the 2008 LP Illinois Convention, please contact us.

National Platform Committee Representative - John Howell

This Committee works collaboratively to make recommendations for changes to our party’s platform. The recommendations are considered and voted on by delegates to our National Convention. Our appointee works with the Committee primarly by phone and the internet and will also attend the Leadership Conference and the National Convention.

Vote Libertarian Illinois Committee Chair (gro.sionillIPL@ILV)- Crystal Jurczynski

This Committee is focused on obtaining ballot access for our U.S. President, Vice President, and Senate candidates for the November election. We need petitioners, coordinators, notaries, communicators, and fundraisers to make it happen.
